Communications Skills Workshop for Information Technology
Target Group:
Managers and employees from IT business divisions who need to use English in their work (either internally with colleagues or externally with clients or vendors). In addition, this seminar is for those who would like to share their experience and knowledge with other IT specialists.
Seminar Target:
The focus will be on using appropriate IT-related terminology in business discussions and presentations on IT topics.Participants in this seminar will improve their ability to:
- Determine user-needs through effective question techniques
- Communicate clearly about hardware and software specifications
- Discuss the bank's IT business and its organization with confidence
- Build up IT-related vocabulary specific to your area of business
- Present the IT-organization clearly and IT- solutions persuasively
Content:
- Describing environments, security and compatibility
- Talking about an IT product's capabilities and performance
Communicating effectively with suppliers and vendors - Presenting your IT services internally to colleagues
- Selling your IT services externally to clients
Methods:
Trainer input, case studies, role plays, simulations, video and computer-based
training.
Participant input will be video taped for feedback and analysis.
Comments:
Participants should be prepared to speak English throughout the seminar.
The seminar will continue in the evening with group activities and discussions.
The evening activities are designed to further improve and reinforce language
skills. Participants are strongly encouraged to take part in these events.
Pre-requisites:
All participants must be actively engaged in an IT business division or directly related areas of business. All participants must fulfill the requirements for an English language professional skills seminar at an intermediate level: The "pre-course questionnaire" returned to Personnel.
